Choosing a style for your video
The key to a successful video is being able to evoke strong emotions from the audience.  Simply showing one picture after another, with no emotion attached to it, can quickly make your audience stray.  The two primary emotional styles that make a video successful are "sentimental" and "funny".  If a video is created properly, it should be entertaining for everyone - even total strangers.

When you make your request for a video slideshow, one of the first things you will need to decide is which emotions you want to get from your audience.  A good rule of thumb for most "growing up" videos (typically shown at wedding receptions) is to start with a sentimental section of the bride and groom growing up, followed by a funny section of them and their family and friends, and finally, a sentimental section showing them together as a couple.  A typical vacation slideshow would be upbeat - "fun" and "funny" - possibly ending with a melancholy section to give that feeling we all get when we know our vacation is about to come to an end.  Check out our examples page, where we show contrasting video types.
